Sha Yang

Sha Yang began her role as an instructional designer at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, where she was later awarded the Outstanding Instructional Design Services Award by the university. Afterwards, Sha worked as an instructional designer and academic technologist in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota for eight and a half years, where she was honored with the college's Meritorious Service Award. Prior to joining Penn State, Sha worked for Norwich University as an instructional designer. Across her roles, Sha provided support and consultation for the design of online and hybrid/blended courses as well as the use of educational technologies for instruction across different modalities.

Sha has presented her research and projects at national conferences such as AERA and AECT and those at the University of Minnesota. Sha has completed the Applying the Quality Matters Rubric course, Higher Ed Peer Reviewer course as well as the EDUCAUSE AI for Instructional Design course.  

Sha has M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Learning Design and Technology program from Purdue University, M.A. in Intercultural Communication from Shanghai International Studies University, and B.A. in English Language and Literature from Central China Normal University.  

In her spare time, Sha enjoys having fun with her two children, taking a walk, watching movies, and tidying up her house.
