Question #1: What inspired you to pursue the major you are in?
I always knew I wanted to work with animals in some capacity, but I was not sure if I wanted to do research, go to vet school, or work in industry. However, thanks to the Animal Science major, I am able to be flexible with my career path and go into a number of different fields with my degree. This was the main reason for choosing the major. The number of career paths and diverse range of classes to choose from make it such a versatile and fun major.
Question #2: What has been the best part of your time in the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences?
I have enjoyed the research opportunities the most. The diverse range of research opportunities offered in the College of Agricultural Sciences surprised me and makes sure there are research opportunities for everyone. I am involved in my own independent research project on eastern newts. I have had so much fun with field work, lab work, and interacting with other students interested in wildlife research.
Question #3: What do you wish you would have known as a new student at Penn State?
I wish I could have understood just how large the school was. Not as something to fear, but something to appreciate. The school has so many majors, clubs, research opportunities, and communities. Anyone can find their niche; all they must do is search for it. I wish I had known just how many resources and opportunities were at my fingertips, but I am thankful that throughout my college experience, I have grown to realize how much this school offers.
