Areas of Expertise

  • Spanish for Agriculture Program

Jaime García Prudencio is an Associate Teaching Professor in Penn State’s Spanish for Agriculture Program, where he prepares future agricultural and green industry professionals to work confidently in bilingual and bicultural environments. He is also a Teaching and Learning with Technology Faculty Fellow and Chair of the Latinx Agricultural Network, advancing bilingual education and inclusive outreach in agriculture. Originally from Spain — and proudly an adopted American — Jaime holds an M.S. in Agroecology from the International University of Andalusia and a B.S. in Forestry Engineering from the University of Córdoba.

Jaime has studied in Belgium and Argentina and traveled the world exploring agriculture, forestry, and economic development, from edible landscapes to family farms and wild landscapes. He has led initiatives as diverse as reviving heritage vegetable varieties, creating community seed banks, establishing urban gardens, working as a beekeeper, and developing rock climbing and eco-tourism trails for regional agencies.

Beyond the classroom, Jaime supports Penn State Extension as a facilitator, translator, and editor, expanding access to research and resources for communities with limited English proficiency. A passionate traveler and lifelong learner, he believes that edible landscapes — whether in the countryside or the heart of a city — bring together people, stories, traditions, flavors, and a shared love for plants.
