Question #1: What inspired you to pursue the major you are in?

I was inspired to pursue Food Science because of how many different disciplines it involved. As a Food Science major, I am constantly exposed to chemistry, microbiology, and even law. For someone who likes to be versatile and work in different fields, it was the perfect fit for me. The availability of high-quality ice cream also helps!

Question #2: What has been the best part of your time in the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences?

The best part of my time in the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences has been experiencing the multiple different opportunities that the school provides. Through the college, I have been able to meet some of my closest friends, like my sisters in Sigma Alpha, as well as go to destinations I would have never thought possible. During my first year, I was able to compete in the Collegiate Dairy Products Evaluation Competition in Milwaukee where I helped bring home the trophy for butter evaluation.

Question #3: What do you wish you would have known as a new student at Penn State?

I wish I knew how to pace myself better. Starting at Penn State can be a bit overwhelming, especially given how many clubs, organizations, and events there are throughout campus. I struggled with this during my first semester at University Park.  However, eventually you learn how to manage your time, academic responsibilities, and social activities—preparing you for your career after university.
