Evaluating Ecosystem Services from Cover Crops
This exercise for Extension field days or the agroecology classroom/laboratory uses spider plots to assess the ecosystem services (weed suppression, nitrogen contribution, soil quality, nutrient retention, biological control, and pollination) from five different cover crop treatments.  While designed for the conditions and cover crops of Central Pennsylvania, the exercise can be adapted for other regions of the US.  Included here are instructions for learners and guidelines for instructors.
