Join the Penn State Extension New and Beginning Farmer Team for informal educational conversations with educators, industry experts, and Penn State faculty and research. Each week we will cover topics that will help new and beginning farmers become more aware of the resources to assist their journey to enter farming. Guests will provide information within their field of expertise and provide tips to help make your start-up more successful.

Christi (Graver) PowellChristi (Graver) Powell

Christi (Graver) Powell is an educator with the Penn State Extension Business and Community Vitality Team. She is based in Lehigh County and works with various farms and ag businesses in the Lehigh Valley and beyond.

Don Seifrit, M.S.Don Seifrit, M.S.

Don Seifrit, M.S. – Don joined Penn State Extension in 2018 as a tree fruit educator in Berks County. He received his B.S. (2012) and M.S. (2017) in Plant Science from the University of Delaware. His thesis was focused on pollination of watermelons in southern Delaware. Don worked with Delaware Extension as a Master Gardener program assistant prior to signing on with Penn State Extension. He recently received education to assist with Train the Trainer programs for compliance with the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

Lynn KimeLynn Kime

Lynn Kime is a Senior Extension Associate and project coordinator for the Agriculture Alternatives publication series for the Department of Agricultural Economics, Sociology, and Extension Education of Penn State. He is also the team leader for the New and Beginning Farmer Team and works closely with educators to develop educational materials for this clientele. He works extensively in the area of budgeting for crops, livestock, and horticulture. Lynn also works in the areas of crop insurance education and is a co-author of the Your Future in Focus and Farm Sense courses.
