The Nutrient Management Program has updated the Nutrient Management Plan (NMP) Spreadsheet to Version 9.1 in November 2023. Several updates were added to resolve identified issues and provide additional information.
The main updates were related to uncollected manure. If a farm has animal groups with uncollected manure, then Version 9.1 must be used.
If a planner experiences any of the issues mentioned below, then they must use NMP Version 9.1.
As a reminder, Planners must use NMP Version 9.x when planning for crop year 2025 and beyond.
Highlights of these updates include:
1. General Updates
Table 3 (AG Table 1.2-12) Updated column header notes to make comments consistent with manure types.
2. Grazing Calculator
The print areas were updated in NMP Version 9.1 to include all table columns. Previously the Grazing Note was cut off and the uncollected manure allocation vs generated amounts were cut off.

3. Add Animal Type Manure Production Sheet
The version transfer to Version 9 process for the Add Animal Type Manure Production Sheet was updated. The transfer from previous versions 7 and 8 will now only include animal group name and animal weight. Users can simply copy and paste the relevant book values for manure production and analysis values from the animal types listed below the User Entered table. Previously the version 9 transfer would copy the old nutrient values to incorrect cells. Version 9 to 9 transfers will transfer all information.

When an animal group was selected in the Grazing Calculator, the book values for uncollected manure nutrients P2O5 and K2O were not referencing the correct columns in the Animal Type Manure Production worksheet. The spreadsheet was updated to correctly reference the P2O5 and K2O values for the selected animal type.

4. Manure Nitrogen Residual Calculator
The Manure Residual 5-year Average Calculator was updated to properly determine the amount of residual organic nitrogen available to a crop based on a 5-year manure residual value when previous manure groups and application rates are used.

The standard format Excel file: NMP Version 9.1 2023-11 (2007-2019 Excel) is now available on the Nutrient Management Website under planning tools.
