UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Professionals and researchers spanning biorenewables-related industries and research programs are invited to join Penn State’s 2024 Biorenewables Symposium, which is designed to help them gain insights into cutting-edge research, cultivate partnerships and explore pathways within the field of biobased energy, products and materials.
The symposium is slated for April 18-19 at 233 Hetzel Union Building in the Robeson Cultural Center on the University Park campus. Co-hosts are the Penn State Center for Biorenewables — a center co-funded by the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences — the Institute of Energy and the Environment, the Institute for Sustainable Agricultural, Food and Environmental Science in the College of Agricultural Sciences, and Penn State Extension.
With the biorenewables sector rapidly expanding, the demand for innovative solutions to its complex challenges in science, technology, policy, workforce development and business has never been more pressing, according to Dan Ciolkosz, associate research professor of agricultural and biological engineering and one of the symposium organizers.
“This symposium serves as a pivotal platform for individuals seeking to navigate the burgeoning bioeconomy landscape,” he said. “Attendees will have the opportunity to network with leading researchers and project developers, gaining valuable insights into coming opportunities in bioenergy and biorenewables.”
Designed for biomass and bioproducts professionals, project developers, policymakers, researchers, and public sector professionals, the workshop will include keynote talks by leaders in the biorenewables area and engaging panel discussions featuring industry leaders and Penn State researchers.
These discussions will spotlight groundbreaking innovations, new opportunities and the strategies driving tangible advancements in the biorenewables sector. Penn State researchers also will present their latest results in a poster session.
