Mandy L. Smith serves as an Extension Educator and the Master Gardener Coordinator for Westmoreland County. Master Gardeners provide science-based education to the Westmoreland County community through projects such as Garden Hotline, Speakers Bureau, youth programming, demonstration gardens, and more. In addition to coordinating the Master Gardener projects, Mandy writes articles for Home Garden News and presents webinars and in-person programs on myriad topics, including native plants and houseplants.

Mandy is a Pennsylvania native and Penn State alumna with experience in horticulture, environmental education, and conservation. Mandy has a great appreciation and love for the natural world, particularly native and medicinal plants, ecological gardening, and sustainable healthy living. Prior to joining Penn State Extension, Mandy managed various education programs and nature centers, including Latta Plantation Nature Center in Charlotte, NC, Pickering Creek Audubon Center on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and Ford Nature Center in Northeast Ohio.
