Leon Ressler is an Extension Educator serving on the agronomy team based in Lancaster County. He holds a B.S. in Agronomy and Plant Science from Penn State and an M.S. from Penn State Harrisburg in Environmental Pollution Control.

 

After serving 16 years in several Extension Director roles Leon transitioned back to an Extension Educator role in 2017. Leon focus includes working with small farms to assist them in nutrient management planning and improving environmental quality. He has extensive experience in Nutrient Management, On-Farm Composting, Managing Agricultural Odors and Flies and the Manure Hauler Certification Program. Leon's programing experience also includes Water Quality and Water Rights, Groundwater Policy Education, Precision Agriculture Technology and Sustainable Agriculture.

 

In his roles as County Extension Director in Lancaster County, Interim Regional Director, and District Director for Lancaster, Chester, and Lebanon Counties, he managed finances, developed budgets and managed office technology. In that capacity he worked closed with the Commissioners in those counties in budget development and managing county grants such as the Mosquito Borne Disease grants.
