Welcome to The Penn State Flower Trials
The gardens are living laboratories and garden classrooms for horticulture, plant pathology and entomology. Commercial visitors use the gardens to develop plant lists knowing that varieties have been fully tested in this climate and under standard cultural conditions. Others use the trials for photography, relaxation, inspiration or simply selecting the best plants for their own gardens.
What we do …
- Evaluate plants during the growing season
- Provide information for commercial growers and gardeners
- Hold Field Day for visual evaluation and tour
- Conduct tours upon request
Visitation at the Penn State Flower Trials is currently on hold and not permitted at this time. However, as the Covid restrictions are lifted, we are redefining our visitation policies. Our first priority is the safety of our staff, volunteers, and all visitors. We understand that our customers appreciate the ability to walk through and view the entries themselves. The hope is to have limited, by appointment only access to the trials this year. This will be complemented by a “virtual walkabout” and a 2021 installment of our video series, that customers can watch on demand. Please stay tuned to our website and social media for updates.
