UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Extension has released a series of four short videos that offer the perspectives and experiences of five women farmers in Pennsylvania on how they manage risks associated with agritourism on their farms. The video series is designed to inspire other farmers to address these risks in their own businesses.
Through the telling of their experiences and perspectives, these farmers describe different aspects of risk in their agritourism businesses and various ways of mitigating risk. The videos, ranging from five to seven minutes each, focus on four risk areas: production and financial risks, human resources risks, marketing risks, and legal risks.
The video series was produced by Penn State Extension’s Claudia Schmidt, Sarah Cornelisse, Christiana Graver, and Tanya Lamo, with support from the Northeast Extension Risk Management Education Center. It features Pennsylvania Farmers Megan Way Coopey, Ellie Hollabaugh Vranich, Kim Tait, Kathy Raub, and Liz Wagner.
