Are you stuck at home wanting to start a new business to make or to grow an “Essential” item to sustain humankind? Why not join PA-WAgN and Rusty and Claire Orner, stewards of Quiet Creek Herb Farm & School of Country Living, to learn such skills for free (each class valued at $50-$125 per person). With each class you will have the opportunity to learn specific skills and items to make your personal livelihood and/or business thrive. You must be registered as a PA-WAgN member (free) and be present on-line or in-person to win. Winnings can be picked up in person at Quiet Creek or shipped. Any shipping costs will be the responsibility of each winner. Classes are limited to 30 participants.

Natural Hand Sanitizers (virtual)

When: May 30, 2020, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

This online program is the first in a FREE, three-part 'Essentials Class' series PA-WAgN is hosting in partnership with Rusty and Claire Orner, stewards of Quiet Creek Herb Farm & School of Country Living.  The series is designed to inspire those stuck at home and those interested in starting a new agriculturally rooted business to make or to grow 'essential' items to sustain humankind.  During our first program on natural hand sanitizers, discover the healing properties of 25 essential oils. Develop an understanding of how essential oils are distilled, how they are used, how they heal, and how they are applied. Gain new knowledge and an understanding of how to make a massage oil blended specifically to your needs. Handouts will be provided in advance of the class.  Plus, current Pa-WAgN members who tune-in live will have an opportunity to win 'essential oil hand sanitizer' materials!

Plant Propagation (in-person)

When: June 20, 2020, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Where: Quiet Creek Herb Farm & School of Country Living - 93 Quiet Creek Ln, Brookville, PA 15825 (Jefferson County)

This in-person program is the second in a FREE, three-part 'Essentials Class' series PA-WAgN is hosting in partnership with Rusty and Claire Orner, stewards of Quiet Creek Herb Farm & School of Country Living.  The series is designed to inspire those stuck at home and those interested in starting a new agriculturally rooted business to make or to grow 'essential' items to sustain humankind.  During our second program on plant propagation, you will become acquainted with many plants (medicinal and culinary herbs, ornamental flowers, and more) while building plant propagation skills. You will learn how to propagate plants from seeds, cuttings, layering, and divisions. The Orner's will share PowerPoint materials for later use and attendees who are current PA-WAgN members will have the opportunity to win $60 worth of herbs.

Herbal Soap Making (virtual or in-person)

This online or in-person program is the final program in a FREE, three-part 'Essentials Class' series PA-WAgN is hosting in partnership with Rusty and Claire Orner, stewards of Quiet Creek Herb Farm & School of Country Living.  The series is designed to inspire those stuck at home and those interested in starting a new agriculturally rooted business to make or to grow 'essential' items to sustain humankind.  During our final program on herbal soap making, Rusty Orner will show you how to make soap from scratch with household supplies and tools. Learn how to mold, cut, scent and color soap naturally without the drying, harmful chemicals found in commercial soaps. Rusty's soap book will be provided in advance of the class so attendees can follow along with the demonstration. Current PA-WAgN members who tune-in live will have the opportunity to win soap making kits ($99 to $139 value)! Winnings can be picked up in person at Quiet Creek or shipped. Any shipping costs will be the responsibility of each winner.
