Join students and the Global Teach Ag Network team in the annual Field of Hope Walk for Women 6K.
The Global Teach Ag Network 6K Walk for Women
The Global Teach Ag Network is gathering a team to support Field of Hope, one of our global learning partners and a nonprofit organization, in their annual event - Walk for Women 6K.
The overall goal is to raise awareness and funding opportunities to support Ugandan women who face the daily challenge of walking an average of six kilometers (approximately 3.7 miles) to collect water for their families. Often, this water is contaminated, yet it is essential for cooking, drinking, cleaning, and other household needs. Carrying over 40 pounds of water, these women frequently make multiple trips, which can consume up to 25% of their daily caloric intake. Imagine how different their lives could be if we all took action!
How can you become involved? Gather a team of friends/family/community or walk on your own (join a team later if you desire) or join the Global Teach Ag Network (GTAN) team.
- Go to the Field of Hope website.
- Scroll down and click on the orange "CLICK HERE TO WALK" button.
- On the right-hand side, you can view the people and teams registered, along with the donation and fundraiser amounts.
- Directly below, click on the green button, "Join or Start a Team."
- In the first box ("Find an existing team to join"), type in "GTAN" or "Global Teach Ag Network."
- Next, click "Join the Team" (you are able to see all other teammates and go to GTAN's Team Page).
- Continue to sign up and enter your information to register with GTAN.
You may start your own team or register as an individual at the link above, too.
Finally, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, walk the 6K from wherever you are and document it virtually!
If you would like to donate and not walk or join a team, choose the orange "Make a Donation" button. Complete the form to support this worthy cause. You may apply your gift to Global Teach Ag Network (GTAN - which set a goal of $1,000) or another team by entering the team name in the box titled: Is this in support of a particular participant in the Walk for Women Virtual 6K 2025?
