In case you haven’t heard about it, City Semester is an immersive “study away” experience for students to live and learn in the heart of Pittsburgh. The program is hosted by the Penn State Center Pittsburgh and is open to all Penn State students of any background at second-year standing or above.

Over the course of seven semesters the past few years, there have been nearly 50 students successfully complete the program – several of which have been from the College of Agricultural Sciences.

During City Semester, students live in Pittsburgh while earning credits with:

  • An engaging virtual or in-person internship in a student's field of interest
  • Urban Sustainability course including guest speakers and discussions on climate action, justice and inequality, urban design, food security, water quality and more
  • The opportunity to network with and be mentored by local community leaders
