On April 14, Penn State students interested in food innovation and product development will have the opportunity to learn about a unique hands-on competition returning in Fall 2026.

Penn State will host an informational session for National Honey Board Product Development Competition on April 14.

The Department of Food Science will host this information session on April 14 at 5:30 p.m. in Room 252 of the Erickson Food Science Building to introduce the 2nd Annual National Honey Board x Penn State Product Development Competition.

The competition invites students to develop an original frozen dessert featuring honey, either incorporated into the base or used as a variegate. Open to both undergraduate and graduate students from any major, the event encourages interdisciplinary collaboration while requiring each team to include at least one food science student.

During the session, attendees will learn about the competition theme, key guidelines, judging criteria and available resources to help teams begin developing their ideas. The event will also provide an opportunity for students to connect with potential teammates and learn how the competition offers real-world product development experience.

Students interested in participating or learning more about the competition are encouraged to attend the April 14 session.
