The Center of Excellence in Industrial Biotechnology (Huck Life Sciences) is hosting two, 3-day hands-on workshops that provides training in introductory methods in mammalian cell culture.
The Introductory Mammalian Cell Culture workshop provides training in introductory methods in mammalian cell culture. Throughout the course of the workshop, you will learn all the basics needed to grow a cell, such as:
- proper aseptic techniques and PPE protocols,
- general cell cycle related to cell culture and cell growth,
- growth curve and cell division,
- splitting cells,
- feeding cells,
- essential cell culture techniques for suspension and adherent cells,
- and cryopreservation and recovery.
Choose one of the following sessions to attend:
Session 1 | 3 Days
Location: Sartorius Cell Culture Facility (008 Chemical Biomedical Engineering Building)
- September 22: Tuesday | 9:00am - 4:30pm
- September 23: Wednesday | 9:00am - 4:30pm
- September 24: Thursday | 9:00am - 1:00pm
Session 2 | 3 Days
Location: Sartorius Cell Culture Facility (008 Chemical Biomedical Engineering Building)
- September 29: Tuesday | 9:00am - 4:30pm
- September 30: Wednesday | 9:00am - 4:30pm
- October 1: Thursday | 9:00am - 1:00pm
This event is open to all Penn State students, faculty and staff – no prior experience is needed, so all levels of expertise are welcomed.
All participants will be required to complete the assigned CITI/LRN training courses, to participate in the workshop.
