Rolling Hills Farm is a 1,200 acre highly diversified heirloom vegetable and heritage breed livestock farm in Westport, NY with a focus on producing clean and natural food using organic and sustainable practices.

The Vegetable Manager will be responsible for all aspects of field, greenhouse and high tunnel heirloom vegetable production from seed starting and saving to post-harvest processing. The primary function of the Vegetable Manager will be to oversee the scheduling, preparation, planting, cultivating, organic weeding, harvesting and washing all transplanted and direct seeded heirloom vegetables, herbs and small fruits on approximately 5 acres. Tasks will include:

  • Basic greenhouse and equipment maintenance
  • Recommending staff needs: hire, train, evaluate staff
  • Recommending and selecting equipment and supplies
  • Crop rotation planning and cover cropping
  • Soil testing and fertility maintenance
  • Pest control and irrigation management
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state and regulatory policies
  • Time management and detailed recordkeeping for staff

Ideal candidates enjoy working outdoors and are reliable, self-motivated, and enjoy working in a team environment. Must be able to lift 50-75 lbs. Small grain experience helpful.

This is a full time, year round position. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Housing may be available.
