The USDA-Agricultural Research Service-Pasture Systems and Watershed Management Research Unit (located on Penn State’s campus across from the Berkey Creamery) is searching for several undergraduate students interested in gaining experience in one or more of the following fields: agroecology, environmental science, nutrient management and soil science.

Position 1: Field Assistant - Agroecology/Environmental Science
We are looking for two highly motivated, hardworking assistants whose duties would include monitoring greenhouse gas emissions, processing soil samples, and assisting with the management of a dairy and bioenergy cropping system. We expect individuals to be able to work as part of a team and independently. The candidates should have solid organizational skills, the ability to follow detailed instructions, and should possess good communication skills. The students must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel to sites throughout Pennsylvania. This position will be full-time during the summer with the potential for some part-time work during the spring semester.

Position 2: Lab Assistant - Water and Soil Sample Processing (light field work)
We are seeking a motivated and hardworking laboratory assistant to help with processing research soil and water samples. Job duties include performing routine laboratory analyses and assisting with light field work as needed. Previous experience in a laboratory setting is useful but not required, any required training for specific laboratory tasks will be provided. The ideal candidate has excellent organizational skills, knowledge on following laboratory SOP, the ability to follow detailed instructions and is self-motivated to complete tasks on their own. This position will be full-time during the summer with the potential for some part-time work during the spring semester.
