The Environmental Resource Management Program is currently planning a new embedded study abroad program (ERM 499 FA 2017/ SP 2018) for next winter break to the Patagonia region of South America. Applications available now.
Participants will travel during winter break of 2017 through 2018 and will start with a stay in Santiago, Chile. While in the city, students will have the opportunity to learn about the culture and history of Chile as well as learn more about the environmental issues the area is currently facing. This may include in depth learning about air quality, water quality, and environmental impacts on South America. Day trips to the Western Coast of Chile in addition to national parks and nature reserves will also be included.
Following the stay in Santiago, Chile, the group will travel south to the more remote region of Patagonia. While here, the students will have an opportunity to experience the vast beauty of this undeveloped area. Not only will students be able to hike throughout Patagonia and experience its natural beauty first hand, but they will also learn about its expansive history and environmental importance.
