12 week position to work with Penn State Cooperative Extension-Cumberland County 4-H Youth Development program.

JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is for 12 weeks, beginning approximately late May, 2017. The deadline to apply for this position is March 27, 2017 at 4:30 pm.

The 4-H Summer Assistant will work with the Penn State Cooperative Extension - Cumberland County 4-H Youth Development program to provide informal educational experiences and activities for youth. The individual will work closely with county clientele, 4-H Educator and under the direction of District Extension Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and deliver educational program at 4-H Ag Science Camp and develop and deliver educational program at 4-H Activity Days
  • Conduct informal educational activities for 4-H youth
  • Assist with registration and related logistics of county delegation to attend Pennsylvania 4-H State Achievement Days
  • Assist with 4-H Project Round-up
  • Conduct 4-H programming with a local summer school age camp at the Carlisle Barracks
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Cumberland County Extension Office

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a college student, having successfully completed the second year in a two or four year degree program
  • Preference given to a candidate who resides in Cumberland County
  • Must have a valid driver's license and must have personal transportation to the office and occasionally other work locations
  • Successful candidate may only occupy the internship for one year
  • Must have positive personal communication skills, writing skills and be able to effectively use information technology skills
  • Candidate must submit proof of State Police background check and Act 34 Clearance

BENEFITS: This is a 12 week assignment. No benefits offered for this position.

Compensation: $11.67 per hour
