Students for Cultivating Change Info Session

Posted: September 15, 2016

A new student organization, Students for Cultivating Change, will be holding our first information session on Thursday, September 22, 2016, in 118 ASI. The organization's purpose will be to connect LGBT and allied students and promote an atmosphere of inclusion in the College.

The Cultivating Change Foundation is a national non-profit. Their mission is "valuing and elevating minorities in agrarian communities through innovation, education, and advocacy." Their work is specifically focused on promoting inclusion for LGBTQA individuals in the agricultural industry. Cultivating Change website:

Students for Cultivating Change (SCC) at Penn State is the first student ambassador program of Cultivating Change. Our goals as a student organization on campus will be to provide a welcoming atmosphere for LGBTQA students in the College of Agricultural Sciences. We also aim to promote inclusion within the College through education and outreach at College events. This organization is open to allied students as well.

We plan to collaborate with other inclusive organizations on campus (agricultural or otherwise) to promote diversity in various areas.

Our first information session will be held Thursday, September 22, 2016, at 5:30 pm in 118 Ag Sciences and Industries Building (ASI). We will be providing more specific information and will be open to questions and comments about the organization. There will be light refreshments.

If you have any questions before the information session, or cannot attend, but want to be involved in the organization, please contact one of the following people. Kurtis Miller (President): ; Denver Greenawalt (Vice President): or Jenneth Layaou (Advisor):
