NASA Scholarship Opportunities for Undergraduates

Posted: September 6, 2016

Scholarships available for underrepresented students in the sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.

The Women in Science and Engineering Research (WISER) program, Minority Undergraduate Research Experience (MURE), and the Freshman Undergraduate Research Program (FURP) are coordinated and funded by the NASA Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium to place undergraduate students in research labs to gain valuable experience. The programs offer a $500 per semester scholarship and students are expected to work 5 hours per week in the lab.

These programs were designed to support underrepresented students in the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) fields by placing undergraduates with a faculty mentor to gain hands-on experience in a laboratory setting related to the students’ major.  This opportunity is offered to all freshmen and minority undergraduate students.  Applications opened on September 1, 2016 and close on November 1, 2016.  Students will be placed in labs for the spring and fall 2017 semesters.

For more information on these research programs, including eligibility, please visit the PA Space Grant website for undergraduate research.  Students may also email Suzanne Sunday, Program Coordinator with any questions at .
