The Entomology Department, College of Agricultural Sciences, Penn State University

The Entomology Department is seeking an undergraduate student with an agriculture-related major to provide support to a multidisciplinary project combining entomology and sociology. The student will assist a Rural Sociology graduate student with an exploratory sociological study about social and cultural factors influencing how wheat farmers in Pennsylvania adopt, use, and perceive web- and smartphone-based prediction technology systems. The student will also assist with developing an Extension program that will educate farmers who grow wheat about how to incorporate web-based prediction systems (e.g., smartphone apps), into their pest management decision-making process. The student should have an interest in learning about the application of sociology to pest management issues in agriculture. For more information about the project visit:

Undergraduate students receive a $5,000 stipend plus travel expenses.
