Community Garden Summer Internship

This is an advertisement for the Center for Sustainability's Community Garden Summer Internship. It includes a brief job description, expectations and approximate time and pay.

Are you interested in advancing sustainability at Penn State? The Penn State Community garden is seeking to hire an intern for the summer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Holding weekly office hours at the garden to help gardeners with practical problems, and providing horticultural advice.
  • Site management tasks, such as weeding, filling water tanks, and maintenance of garden equipment.
  • Assist garden officers in enforcing the gardener agreement, and in planning and facilitating educational workshops.

Applicants for the internship are expected to:

  • Be experienced in vegetable gardening, preferably in organic methods.
  • Be in good physical condition.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have strong time management skills and the ability to work independently.

The internship will be a 12 week position (early June to late August), compensation will be hourly ($8.50-9.00/hour) for approximately 7-10 hours per week (TBD).
