The purpose of this award is to recognize an outstanding graduate student in the College of Agricultural Sciences who conduct research in the fields of agronomy (field crop science) and soil science where improvement of field crop productivity and soil management are studied. Applications are due Febraury 16.

Eligibility

Graduate students, advised by faculty in the College of Agricultural Sciences, who are in good academic standing and whose area of study relates to field crop productivity and soil management. They may be enrolled in but not limited to graduate programs in Soil Science, Agricultural and Environmental Plant Science or other degree program where improvement of field crop productivity and soil management are studied. Previous recipients of this award are not eligible.

Scholarship Amount

Up to $1,500

Selection Process

An award committee will be appointed by the Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Education to select the recipient(s).

Guidelines

  • Complete the nomination and upload nominee CV via InfoReady by Friday, February 16, 2024. Submissions that are received by the deadline will be considered; late submissions will not be accepted.
  • Nominating faculty must complete the Statement of Support in the nomination submission that highlights the nominee's area of study in the fields of agronomy (field crop science) and soil science where improvement of field crop productivity and soil management are studied. Consider impact, effectiveness, innovation, and/or significance of contribution. Please be sure to relate your comments to the award criteria and highlight specific examples. 
  • The nomination may include the optional Additional Support field in the nomination submission should describe any reason(s) why this student is deserving of this recognition not noted above. 
  • Faculty Advisor Certification must be completed, regardless of the nominator, by Tuesday, February 20, 2024, for nomination to be considered by the award committee.
