The purpose of this award shall be to honor and recognize an untenured, tenure-track faculty member in the College of Agricultural Sciences, whose research involves the social or human sciences, for the best refereed article published in a scholarly journal in the previous two years.

Eligibility

Tenure-track, but untenured faculty, at the time of the award are eligible. Social or human sciences refereed articles should have appeared in print in the previous two years (2017 or 2018).

Amount

$2,500 (taxable) deposited into your account on file with the University and an award.

Guidelines

A faculty member may submit only one refereed article for consideration.

Past recipients are not eligible.

  • Only single faculty nominations will be accepted, group nominations will not be considered.
  • Submit an electronic copy of a published article for consideration to the Office of Research and Graduate Education via email (agresearch@psu.edu) by 5:00PM on Friday, February 8, 2019.
  • The recipient will be invited to give a short speech on their article.

Selection Process

The selection of the awardee will be made by a committee appointed by the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education, as dictated by the endowment guidelines. The area of "social or human sciences" is relatively broad, and the committee will determine whether a particular refereed article fits the designation.
