Members of the EFSNE Production Team carried out seven analyses during the course of the project, focusing on the region’s current and potential production capacity.

They established baselines for agricultural production and the distribution of farms, wholesale distribution centers, and retail outlets throughout the region. They calculated yield trajectories for a number of regional crops based on their historical performance. They estimated how crop output would change if new land is brought into production. They modeled climate change effects on the productivity of several crops. And, they quantified the region's land requirements to produce complete diets under different diet scenarios.

The team summarized their findings from these efforts in a paper published recently in the Journal of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Community Development. Read the complete paper here.
