Faculty conducted a three-day workshop titled, "Integrating Gender Research Methods in Practice" with Oxfam America researchers in Washington, D.C.. Supporting Oxfam's strategic plan to prioritize gender, Penn State faculty shared content related to gender theory and methodology as well as a facilitated discussion applying gender to Oxfam's research.

Through the GRIT project, Penn State faculty conduct intensive three-week training related to gender research, theory and applied methods. For multiple years, our initiative has hosted multiple cohorts of post-doctoral scholars and researchers at Penn State for this in-depth workshop. Penn State faculty also conducted a condensed version of the GRIT program in-country, with the first occuring in Ethiopia in 2018 following the CGIAR's Collaborative Platform for Gender Research Annual Scientific Meeting.

The Global Gallery was an event that was held to discuss the past, present, and future of the Gender Research and Integrated Training. The participants of this years training had the opportunity to present their research as well as participate in panel style discussions. The day was focused on adding networking experience to an academic/research environment to foster connections for future collaborations.

On May 6, more than 450 graduates, family, friends, faculty, and alumni celebrated the 2018 College of Agricultural Sciences graduates prior to commencement at a luncheon at the Snider Ag Arena. The luncheon, hosted by the Ag Alumni Society, welcomes graduates into the alumni society family with a one-year complimentary membership.

Outstanding Alumni Award and Armsby Honor Society Ceremony

The College honored two outstanding alumni, both of whom were inducted into the Armsby Honor Society along with five alumni, on October 25th. Selected as outstanding alumni, Dr. Kira Bowen and Dr. Bruce Bugbee who distinguished themselves through their professional accomplishments, their scholarship, and their service. Dr. Ted Katsigianis and Mr. Joel Krall were also inducted into the Armsby Honor Society as past award recipients. Armsby inductees are generous with their time, their talent, and their treasure, often supporting the college in all three ways while also leading exemplary lives in their own professions and communities. Armsby Honor Society Inductees not able to attend the ceremony include Mr. Eric Cowden, Mr. Barry Flinchbaugh, and Dr. Fred Metzger.
