Thank you for your interest in donating items to the Pasto Agricultural Museum.

We review every potential donation carefully to ensure that we can care for and appropriately exhibit items entrusted to our care.

Please help us understand the breadth and depth of your collection. Complete the Pasto Ag Museum Collection Donation Form to provide details of an item we may consider for inclusion in our collection. You may upload photos of item(s) and an inventory list for multiple items. If there are several items to list, you can forward an email with the listing and any details that are available rather than submit the form multiple times.

Pasto review of items

Our Collections Committee meets regularly to review prospective items to consider for inclusion in our collection. Considerations include:

  • We carefully review prospective donations to ensure that an item will fit within the framework of our collection representing rural and agricultural life through the 1930's, a time before rural electrification and widespread use of gasoline engines.
  • We review items to ensure that we will be able to care for and preserve them, as well as display them to the public. We accept items that are in good condition, needing little restoration or repair.
  • We may incur costs to preserve, restore, repair, house and/or display items in the collection and look for financial contributions to help offset these costs.
  • We may accept second/multiple copies of items we already have in our collection. We can then preserve first copies in our Permanent Collection for the future, and allow visitors to touch and use items designated for "Educational Use".
  • Any history and stories connected with the items is most helpful to establish provenance and help provide details and interpretation for visitors and researchers.
  • Any new donation not appropriate for the collection or for educational use may be directed to our Silent Auction, where we raise funds for support of programs and exhibits.

Appraisals and value

Donations to the Museum are tax deductible, to the full extent allowed by law, for both federal and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania income tax purposes. A formal appraisal of a donation is the responsibility of the donor. The IRS does not permit the receiving institution to appraise donated objects and the Museum staff cannot offer tax advice. It is the responsibility of donors to confer with their tax advisors regarding the tax benefits, details, and implications of donations. Once donated, items become part of the Museum’s permanent collections and are treated accordingly.
