UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Farm managers, crop consultants and producers looking for the latest, research-based information on crop production and soil health can turn to the 2019-2020 edition of the Penn State Agronomy Guide, now available for purchase from Penn State Extension.
Published every two years, the Agronomy Guide features production information for corn, grain sorghum, soybean, small grains and forages. Topics covered include nutritional requirements, establishment and harvesting; storing seed and grain; and farm management and budgeting.
This comprehensive guide also contains recommendations for managing weeds, insects and diseases. In addition, producers can learn about managing soil health — including fertility management and nontraditional soil amendments — growing cover crops and the basics of organic crop production.
The publication draws from the knowledge and expertise of Penn State Extension specialists and educators in agronomy, entomology and plant pathology; scientists from the USDA Pasture Systems and Watershed Management Research Laboratory; seed, fertilizer, lime and pesticide industry personnel; and representatives of state government agricultural and environmental agencies.
The Penn State Agronomy Guide, which can be previewed and purchased online, is available in print ($35) or as a digital download ($15). A bundle that includes both versions can be purchased for $45.
