Research programs offered for undergraduates

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Three undergraduate research experience programs through NASA’s Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium are offering students the opportunity to work with a research team and gain laboratory experience.

Applications are now open for the three programs; Women in Science Engineering Research (WISER), Minority Undergraduate Research Experience (MURE), and First-year Undergraduate Research Program (FURP).

The programs offer Penn State students research experiences and mentoring at University Park laboratories for two semesters during 2019.

The application deadline is Nov. 1.

Research activities may include attending lab meetings, preparing research posters and collecting data. Students will learn to work safely and efficiently in the lab. Students are often assigned their own research projects and have opportunities to work closely with graduate students.

Participating science and engineering laboratories are in the colleges of Earth and Mineral Sciences, Education, Agricultural Sciences, Engineering, Health and Human Development, Liberal Arts, Information Sciences and Technology, and the Eberly College of Science.
