UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The 2021 Ag Live tailgate, an alumni reunion and charity event hosted by Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Society, returns to University Park’s Snider Agricultural Arena for another year of fundraising and fellowship among the college’s alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends.
“It’s exciting to be planning for an in-person event,” said Alan Schaffranek, director of alumni relations for the college. “We are grateful to continue this Ag Hill tradition after the success of last year’s virtual event while incorporating new activities into the tailgate.”
Ag Live is set for Nov. 20, before the Penn State versus Rutgers football game. Attendees can bid on a resort getaway, 2022 football season parking permits and other valuable items during a live auction called by auctioneer Mark Keller.
The tailgate also will feature a silent auction with in-person and online bidding. Among the items up for bid include a Maggie Harding original painting, Penn State items, sports memorabilia and gift baskets. These items can be viewed online at the Ag Live website several days prior to the event.
All proceeds benefit the alumni society’s student scholarships, internship awards and other programs for students and alumni.
A new event this year is the Ag Hill Olympics, which is being organized by the Ag Student Council. Attendees are encouraged to cheer on student organizations as they compete for the Ag Hill trophy, bragging rights and prizes.
“Ag Student Council is so excited to offer this experience for our students while providing an opportunity for alumni to reminisce on their time at Ag Hill,” said Taylor Halbleib, council president. “Ag Hill Olympics is a perfect way to promote unity among the entire College of Agricultural Sciences community.”
Finally, attendees can help the Lion’s Pantry food bank and the Penn State Professional Attire Closet by participating in a food and professional clothing drive. Nonperishable, unopened and unexpired food and toiletry donations, and gently used professional attire and accessories are requested.
