UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State's Rural Sociology Graduate Student Association (RSGA) will host the 5th Annual Rural Studies Graduate Student Conference on Oct. 27-28 at the HUB-Robeson-Center on the University Park campus.
This conference welcomes undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines and all institutions who study rural areas and topics, both domestically and internationally. Its purpose is to provide undergraduate and graduate students at all points of study an opportunity to share their work and receive feedback in a supportive environment, as well as to learn and build relationships with students from a range of disciplinary fields (sociology, economics, agricultural extension, geography, natural resources, psychology, etc.) connected by a common interest in rural issues.
This year's keynote speakers will be Shannon Bell, associate professor of sociology, Virginia Tech; and Suresh Babu, International Food Policy Research Institute.
Students interested in presenting are asked to submit a 250-300 word abstract of their work to psururalstudiesconference@gmail.com by Sept. 29. Abstracts may reflect thesis and dissertation work, as well as term papers or other research projects. Works from all stages of the research process are welcomed and encouraged for submission.
Students do not have to present research in order to attend; however, all conference attendees are asked to register at https://goo.gl/zYpfhV before Oct. 4 to participate.
