Giving Tuesday contributions supporting College of Agricultural Sciences today

Posted: November 29, 2016

Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences is making initial progress toward its single-day Giving Tuesday fundraising goals for Nov. 29 while continuing to spread the word online about the opportunity to be part of today's special day of giving. There are still several hours left for supporters to help the college meet its two challenge goals to raise funds for its alumni-sponsored student scholarship fund and its 4-H youth programs.

As of noon, Nov. 29, the College of Agricultural Sciences had received 27 gifts totaling $6,860 in donations for the Ag Alumni Trustee Matching Scholarship program, and 21 gifts totaling $880 for the Pennsylvania 4-H Annual Fund. By the end of the day, the college is hoping to total 150 donors and at least $10,000 for the Ag Alumni Trustee Matching Scholarship Challenge, and 100 donors and at least $2,500 for the Pennsylvania 4-H Annual Fund Challenge.

For more information and details on how to donate, visit the Ag Alumni Trustee Matching Scholarship Giving Tuesday Challenge and Pennsylvania 4-H Annual Fund Giving Tuesday Challenge webpages.

The college encourages alumni, students, family, faculty, staff, industry and community partners, and all other friends of agriculture and 4-H youth programs to support these two special initiatives and to share the opportunity with friends and colleagues. Supporters may share the two challenge webpage links on social media or through email and can join in the online Giving Tuesday conversation with Penn State and College of Agricultural Sciences communities, using @agsciences and #psugivingtue on social media.

A global day of giving fueled by the power of social media, #GivingTuesday occurs on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The holiday encourages the public to celebrate by making online donations to their favorite charitable projects.
