Ariel Rivers named ESA Science Policy Fellow

Ariel Rivers, who is pursuing a dual-title doctoral degree in entomology and in international agriculture and development, has been named a Science Policy Fellow by the Entomological Society of America.

The appointment was announced in an ESA news release on Oct. 16.
As a member of the first class of ESA Science and Policy Fellows, Rivers will learn about how science policy and science funding decisions are made at the federal level and will engage with lawmakers, legislative staff and federal agency leaders in Washington, D.C.
The purpose of the program is to support and develop scientists as visible and effective advocates for entomology and entomological research. Rivers' appointment is for a two-year term.
