Mark Theiss recognized with mentoring award

Mark Theiss, director of major gifts for the College of Agricultural Sciences, is the recipient of the 2011 Mentor Award from Penn State's Division of Development and Alumni Relations.

The award recognizes a person in the division who serves as a role model for others and who mentors in traditional and nontraditional ways persons at all levels within the division.

"Mark always has a smile on his face and a joke in his pocket," said one colleague in nominating Theiss for the award. "His door is always open, and he holds no advice back to help you excel in your job."

Said another nominator: "Mark is always offering his assistance and knowledge to help educate his coworkers. He feels one person's problem should not be left on one person's shoulders. He is a team player who wants to help others to be the best they can be."
