The Pennsylvania Ground Water Association has presented “Ground Water Protector” awards to two members of the Water Resources Extension team in the School of Forest Resources.

Bryan Swistock and Stephanie Clemens were honored for "outstanding dedication to the ground water industry" thanks to their work with Penn State Cooperative Extension's Master Well Owner Network, a successful volunteer program that was created in 2003.

Swistock, senior extension associate, and Clemens, Master Well Owner Network coordinator, have worked closely with the groundwater association over the past six years to educate rural homeowners about how to properly construct and manage a private water system.

Part of PGWA’s mission is to foster, aid and promote scientific education, standards, research and techniques in order to improve methods of well construction and development in Pennsylvania. The association presented the awards at its annual Winter Conference in January in Grantville, Pa.
