ADSA is a leader in the scientific and technical support of the global dairy industry, according to John Floros, head of the Department of Food Science.

"I am confident that Bob’s leadership skills, depth and breadth of knowledge, and his insight into the dairy industry will position ADSA well for the future," Floros said. "He will be a great advocate for the dairy industry and will contribute to the reputation of Penn State and our department as a leading institution in dairy science research, education and outreach."

Roberts studies the microbiology of dairy products. His current research focuses on the quality of fermented dairy products such as yogurt and sour cream, developing molecular techniques to characterize and enhance survival of probiotic bacteria used in dairy products, and development of probiotic-containing dairy products for use in clinical trials.
