The Agronomy Farm at the Rock Springs Facility, part of the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center, is the college's largest field research facility, comprising more than 600 acres.
About 50 percent of the farm's output is used by faculty and staff members of the Department of Animal Science to feed their livestock; the rest is sold on the open market to help defray operating expenses. In addition, the property serves as the location for some 50 to 60 separate research projects each year.
