Perspective: My First Year With the Society!

May 2013 officially marks one year of my adventure as the Ag Alumni Society intern. What a year it has been!

Last August, I joined the Ag Alumni Society booth at Ag Progress Days where I was able to interact with and meet alumni in person. After meeting so many unique individuals, I compiled a list of alumni to interview. Each week I would interview alumni and write articles on them with interesting notes about anything from college days to professional careers and families.

I also worked with Naomi, our alumni director, to promote our alumni who come to classes to speak to our students and wrote about those experiences in a feature called “Ag Alumni in the Classroom.” I hope my fellow students, future students, and current alumni enjoy reading my articles as much as I enjoy writing them!

I learned so much about industry careers writing these articles—from dairy producers and ag finance loan officers to turfgrass groundskeepers and even engineers who work for NASA, just to name a few. During my senior year as I continue this internship, I look forward to connecting with more alumni and fostering close relationships between current students and alumni.
