A Green Dream Team

Ten Penn State students now have $5,000 each to help fund their solutions to environmental problems like urban sprawl, water pollution, the Pacific Ocean trash plume, and ocean dead zones. The environmental resource management (ERM) students submitted papers about theirScholarship winners (photo by Gary Abdullah) solutions to national or global environmental issues and the resources needed to help make them happen. Teva Pharmaceuticals USA and the Philadelphia Eagles football team co-sponsor the new Teva Pharmaceuticals “Green Dream” Science Scholarships, awarded in December.

“Penn State has one of the oldest, most comprehensive environmental studies programs in the state,” says Deborah Jaskot, Teva’s vice president of regulatory affairs. “We can all have dreams of how to save the environment, but it will be those who can identify, propose, implement, and maintain workable solutions that will ultimately save the day.”
