Agricultural Sciences faculty participate in exploratory mission focused on agricultural development

Mark Guiltinan and Siela Maximova participate in U.S. delegation of land grant universities to Columbia.

An exploratory mission for U.S. land grant universities was organized by the U.S. Embassy in Bogota to support efforts in agricultural development. Faculty representing seven U.S. land grant institutions visited public and private agricultural institutions May 16 - May 26, 2015.

The goal of the scoping visit was to create an institutional framework for building collaborative agricultural initiatives.  According to US Ambassador to Colombia Kevin Whitaker this delegation visit was part of the Embassy’s effort to “….support efforts in agricultural development through strengthening Colombia’s key agricultural institutions in the public and private sector through technical assistance, collaborative research, exchanges and continuing education.”

Drs. Mark Guiltinan and Siela Maximova, faculty in the College of Agricultural Sciences Plant Science department, were selected to participate.
