Jhony Benavides is a Colombian Fulbright scholar, a student of masters in Soil Science with a dual-title in International Agriculture and Development at The Pennsylvania State University. He is an agricultural engineer graduated at Universidad del Valle (Cali, Colombia).

Jhony has worked as a soil management researcher for the ilama research group (College of Sciences, Universidad del Valle). He also has experience in data processing, rural extension and education (project Bio-region). His main research interests are soil physics, international agriculture and data mining. Since his graduation in 2015 he has co-authored several papers. Recently, he was invited to Universidad del Valle as invited scholar to give a seminar related to Artificial Neural Networks to the doctorate in environmental sciences' students.
