Information for Retiring Employees

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement from Penn State!

Please visit the Office of Human Resources' Guide to Retirement to ensure a smooth transition into retirement and for information regarding the benefits you may retain.

Are you eligible for benefits after retirements?

You may continue to be covered under the health plan benefits available to retired employees and eligible dependents if you meet certain conditions. See Policy HR54 Continuation of Group Insurance after Age 60, Age 65, and after Retirement or Death.

Can you opt to participate in the Voluntary Phased Retirement program?

Faculty and staff may elect to arrange their retirement so that they can continue serving the University in teaching, research, and administrative duties at a reduced level prior to retirement. See Policy HR29 Voluntary Phased Retirement Program.

A faculty or staff member who is leaving University employment should contact one of the following offices regarding possible retirement benefits or the withdrawal of contributions.
