Posted: March 26, 2013

Dara Bloom received an Alumni Association Dissertation Award at the Nittany Lion Inn on March 23.

Dara Bloom, a graduate student in Rural Sociology, was selected earlier this year for a Penn State Alumni Assocation Dissertation Award. Her thesis, entitled "Strategies for a Sustainable Food System: Organization and Implications of a Corporate-Led Model of Food System Localization" was advised by Dr. Claire Hinrichs.

Both Ms. Bloom and Dr. Hinrichs attended the awards dinner on March 23 at the Nittany Lion Inn.

"The Alumni Association Dissertation Award provides funding and recognition to outstanding full-time doctoral students who have passed their comprehensive exams and have received approval of the dissertation topic, or to M.F.A. students in their final year. This award is considered to be among the most prestigious available to Penn State graduate students and recognizes outstanding achievement in scholarship and professional accomplishment."
