New Business
Kelly Caviston, from the College Human Resources Office, attended the first part of our meeting to discuss the 2015 Ella Reagle Staff Assistant Award.  She discussed the search committee guidelines with the group and established a time line for the nomination and selection process.  The winner will be announced the beginning of October and will be awarded at the fall college wide meeting.

Renee Kennedy, Chair of our Staff Advisory Committee, announced that this would be her last meeting as she has accepted a new position outside of the College of Agricultural Sciences.  The SACD will miss her leadership on the committee but wish her well on her new position at Penn State.

At the beginning of August 2015, there were email nominations for committee member LaTrisha Hough to become Chair-elect.  In light of Renee leaving the college, it was voted that LaTrisha would become the Chair of the SACD.

Since the time of the August meeting, LaTrisha has worked on filling the many vacancies on the committee.  At present, we have a vacancy in Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology Department.  Please be thinking of a replacement for this area.  Also, our Chair-elect position remains vacant.  LaTrisha has encouraged the committee to consider volunteering for this important position that will assist her in her committee chair duties.

The Planning Committee (LaTrisha, Morgan, Amy) had met with the Dean on 8/11/12 to propose the plans we have for a potential Spring 2016 Staff Retreat.  LaTrisha shared those meeting materials with the group.  The Dean was receptive to our ideas.  He planned to share the materials we presented to the Department Heads at their next meeting for further discussion.  The Dean will get back to the Planning Committee by the end of September on the college’s final decision about moving forward planning for a retreat.

With no further discussion, the meeting adjourned at 2:45 p.m. The next meeting will be on September 9, 2015.
