Do you know an innovative researcher who is commercializing technologies generated through Penn State research? Nominations sought for the 2019 Research Innovator Award.

Dr. Jeff Catchmark,  professor of agricultural and biological engineering, won the 2018 Research Innovators Award at the College of Agricultural Sciences.

The Office of Research and Graduate Education at the College of Agricultural Sciences is seeking nominations for the 2019 Research Innovator Award.

The purpose of the award is to recognize CAS faculty and staff who have commercialized technologies generated through Penn State research.

Eligibility
All College of Agricultural Sciences faculty, staff, or technical service employees.

Amount
$3,000 total (taxable) for fiscal year 2018/2019.

Guidelines

  • Letter of nomination, including a summary statement of the innovative research and commercialization contributions made by the nominee(s).
  • Evidence of research commercialization could include the development of intellectual properties, technology disclosures, patent applications, patents, Techcelerator program, start-up company, licenses, industry partners, SBIR, etc.
  • The nominee's curriculum vitae (2 page maximum).
  • Single or group nominations will be accepted (award will be split).
  • Individuals nominating should send a unified pdf, containing all required components, to the by 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2019.

The recipient will be invited to present about his or her commercialization experience at the College of Agricultural Sciences Entrepreneurship and Innovation Board meeting on April 25, 2019.

Selection Process
An award committee will be appointed by the Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Education to select the recipient. The selection criteria will be based on commercialization experience conducted at Penn State.
