How to Pitch: Getting Started

Posted: March 1, 2016

Nineteen ‪#‎AgSpringboard16‬ teams will prep their pitches to compete for the $7,500 top prize. What's a pitch?! We all do it every day and we can all do it better. The first in our series of pitch coaching videos.

Every day, we're all pitching — telling our stories, talking about our ideas and selling ourselves.

Pitching a business concept to potential investors and judges is the heart of the Ag Springboard student business pitch contest in the agricultural sciences.

What's it take? Practice, practice, practice, explains student Ben Nason, a horticulture major. Nason and Deanna Spaniel started Blue and White Potato Chips last year.

Over the next few weeks, until the Ag Springboard video pitch deadline of March 28, we'll post a series of videos on the key elements of pitching:

  • What's your BIG IDEA? What is the problem you're solving and why does the world need this?
  • Know your customer,
  • Explain your business model,
  • Explain your financials, where you can take this and who is on your team.
