Writing Help for World Campus Students Through The Graduate Writing Center

Posted: January 29, 2015

Studying online doesn't mean you have to settle for fewer resources! The Graduate Writing Center is a great resource available to World Campus students to improve their writing skills.

The Graduate Writing Center (GWC) is sponsored by the Graduate School, the Department of English, and World Campus. They provide free tutoring services for writers across the disciplines, representing any level of English fluency. Every writer faces challenges with expression, and they seek to empower any writer. However, they recognize that distance learners, especially adult learners, international students, and first-generation students, face unique communication challenges without in-person interaction. The GWC is not a proofreading or editing service, nor do they serve as a ‘last resort’ for bad writers. Instead, their one-on-one, fifty minute session focus on principles of composition and strategies that enable writers to independently improve their writing during any stage of the writing process.

Graduate Writing Center tutors consult writers about a wide range of academic, technical, and professional genres including:

  • Seminar papers
  • Oral presentations
  • Article manuscripts
  • Multimedia design principles
  • Excerpts from dissertation chapters
  • Social media content
  • Curricula vitae (CV's)
  • Reading comprehension
  • Letters of application
  • Grammar

Consult the World Campus website for more information on the Graduate Writing Center and how you can make an appointment with a tutor. Also, follow the GWC on social media:
